Will is at the annual Ranger Gathering but Halt is investigating mysterious happenings in the west. When he does finally return, it's with bad news. Hibernia is in turmoil. A religious cult calling themselves the Outsiders are sowing confusion and sedition, and five of the six Hibernian kingdoms have been undermined.
Now the sixth, Clonmel, is in danger. Halt, Will and Horace set out to restore order. Can the secrets of Halt's past help them in their mission?

I have finally finished book 8. I was really surprised about Halt's brother. It really was such an enjoyable book. So many secrets told. I think it also showed a completely new side of Halt, although, in some ways, it kind of made me think that Halt is getting too old....  |

Yeah, he's not as young as he used to be. I wonder how long JF will have him stomping around all over the land. Hopefully he just retires him or uses him to replace Crowley, if Crowley dies or takes a Gold Oakleaf.

I don't know if I could see Halt in Crowley's position though. I don't even see Halt being able to take a GoldLeaf. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I think there is a lot more to come though.

I didn't think so either until Book 9. There's definitely going to be a focus shift to Will and Horace after that book, but I think we see that already in the preview of The Emperor of Nihon-Ja |

I'm still stuck on book 9. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to actually finish reading it yet. I'll have to wait and see until the end of it I guess. I still don't think I could see him in that position though.
